A group of Year 11 students enjoyed a day at York St John University recently where Student Ambassadors provided tours of the beautiful and historic University in the heart of York. They also took part in taster sessions of some of their degree subjects including Criminology, Film Studies & Media, Professional Health and Social Care and even Japanese!

As you can see from the images the Film & Media Studies group were tasked with producing and presenting a lunch time edition of Look North, complete with guests to interview, external news reports and weather to link. After some guidance the students operated the cameras, managed the studio floor and the control room to link all the elements – and of course presented to camera.

It was a fantastic day and the students fed back that it was very worthwhile and gave a genuine insight into what university life is all about, and discussions became about what to study at university and not should I go to university!
