Pupils from Years 7 and 8 were today treated to an entertaining and informative  STEM roadshow by representatives from BAE Systems, the RAF and the Royal Navy. STEM (Science Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) are subjects that have so much importance to the work and research of these organisations.

Between them they demonstrated a variety of applications including how computer coding worked in real life situations.

Pupils were shown the various technologies that enable drones to work and even took control of a drone flying across the hall beaming back pictures to the big screen from its on boards cameras. They also met an interactive robot that not only could tell you all about itself but could recognize voices and faces and even perform Tai Chi!

They went on to explain how these skills are applied in the work of BAE and the Armed Services and hopefully inspired some of our young people to study in these fields when they leave school.
