Dear Parent / Carer

On the 20th October 16 students and staff from Holy Trinity travelled to Bacau, Romania to work with the charity ‘Cry in the Dark’.   The charity was born from what Steve witnessed in Romania.

Steve visited the Dofteana orphanage in Bachau, Romania in 1998, after hearing about the dire conditions in which children lived.   Since then ‘Cry in the Dark’ has established a number of projects across Romania.  These innovative projects help to bring hope and change to the lives of children and families who live in extreme poverty in Romania.

Every year ‘Cry in the Dark’ takes more than 1000 Christmas shoebox gifts for the children and young people they work with. The thing that sets their shoebox appeal aside from any other is that each and every shoebox is made for a specific individual!

We are asking each year group in the primary phase, and each form in the secondary phase, to create a shoebox for a child in Romania. Some ideas for what to put in the shoebox are, teddy bears, balls, finger puppets, small puzzles, trucks and cars, jewellery, yo-yo, play dough, bubbles, Cards, travel games, colouring pens and pencils, little activity pads, colouring books, chalk, rubbers, sharpeners, little paint sets, craft sets, sweets, hair clips, socks, underwear, etc.

The deadline for donations is Wednesday 8th November. Any donations to include in the shoeboxes would be greatly received.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully
