Newsletter Sept 2013

Dear Parents / Carers,

Welcome back to the start of a new school year here at Holy Trinity. The staff are all ready to welcome you tomorrow. Just a couple of messages for this week:

When you bring your children to school this week, Y1&2 and Foundation Stage will come in through the front gate. This is now the new access to the Primary Office, which will be open from 8.50 am until 4 pm. The gate will be closed between 11.00 am and will reopen at 11.25 to allow access for parents collecting their children from the nursery. If the gate is closed, please use the Main Reception as previously.

Children in Years 5&6 may go upstairs independently; and children in Years 3 & 4 will wait outside their cloakroom doors. Mrs Hewitt, our Learning Mentor, will be available from 8.50am to discuss any problems. Mrs Micheala Woodcock our Parent Support Advisor, will also be available to help if you have any concerns or worries.

Tuck-shop – Please note that this will start again next week. Your child may bring a piece of fruit this week for break times. We have several children in school with severe nut allergies, so we would ask you to avoid anything containing nuts in lunchboxes.

Uniform – a reminder about our school uniform policy:

The School Governing Body have indicated that they prefer a definitive dress code to be worn by the pupils of our school. This ensures a clear identity within the school and sets a positive attitude to learning. We expect to see all children wearing their new school uniforms with pride!

There is a uniform for the primary phase consisting of: Mid-grey trousers, shorts or skirt. Long or short sleeved white shirt Clip-on or elastic school tie

Navy blue v-neck sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan with school logo. Black shoes Grey or white socks or grey tights. Summer uniform – navy blue and white gingham dress

PE kits

PE will be taught on a 2-weekly cycle, e.g. an ‘A’ week and a ‘B’ week. Therefore, their days for PE may differ over the 2-weeks. Your child’s teacher will inform you when PE will be taught this week.

PE kits should consist of the following: *Trainers (not pumps) * Navy blue shorts or a plain navy blue tracksuit may be worn for outdoor PE. * White t-shirt (polo or round neck)

Please note that in line with whole-school policy, the wearing of jewellery, including earrings, is not allowed. Children will be asked to remove them if they wear them in school. This does not include watches may be worn Thank you.

Year 6 Parent’s Meeting – Mrs Smith and Miss Gilroy would like to invite all parents of Year 6 pupils to come along to find out about expectations and enhanced learning opportunities to use at home on Thursday 12th September at 5 pm. We will send out further information next week.

Finally, we would like to invite all parents to a coffee morning this Friday from 9 am in the Heart space. This will be an opportunity to chat with myself, Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Woodcock in a relaxed environment.

Thank you for your support, Mrs Parkin (Primary Leader)
