Holy Trinity has been presented with a Biodiversity Trust Award at a celebration event recently, hosted by Barnsley Biodiversity Trust. The trust are a group of volunteers that have been working with Holy Trinity since 2014. They have worked with groups of students in secondary and primary phase, with our Eco- Club, Science club and during Alternative Curriculum  Days. We have been involved in the Biodiversity in Schools Project since 2014. The events our students have taken part in are:

  • Environmental survey and report of the school grounds
  •  Annual “bio blitz” which involves students undertaking a survey of the wildlife around our school grounds and sending the results  to a national database.
  •  The positioning of bird, bee and mammal boxes
  • Annual inspection and  analysis of box content
  • Presentation to raise awareness of natural heritage and biodiversity
  • Participation in “Hog watch”

Congratulations to all those involved with this work especially Miss Sefton in Science who also received the award on behalf of the school.
